Alchemist Endrew, though he has no memory of it in his current state, is supposed to have had a more normal form. Endrew doesn't remember what happened to him, and he doesn't really care.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the look on my family's face when the children's sickly father, my wife's dying husband, returns in perfect health. I bet they won't even recognize me!"
